Gillfab Panels Qualified for Use in A380 Cabin Floor Replacement

The Gill Corporation, on 02nd Feb, 2018, announced that Gillfab® 4505 and Gillfab® 4605 have been qualified by Airbus for use as replacement cabin floor panel material in A380 aircraft. Originally qualified in 1997 for use in single-aisle and long-range Airbus aircraft, these panel designs offer a demonstrated history of in-service durability.
Gillfab 4505 and Gillfab 4605 are supplied in a semi-finished condition and enable airlines and maintenance providers to produce a multitude of different replacement panels, across variant models.
“By eliminating the necessity to purchase and/or inventory a variety of unique floor panel configurations, customers have realized cost savings, reduced turnaround times and greater inventory flexibility. We’ve supported Airbus operators and maintenance providers for more than three decades and are pleased to have the opportunity to extend these same benefits and value to A380 operators”, said Candi Burdick, Director of Aftermarket Sales.

The Gill Corporation is one of the top five leading players in the global aircraft floor panel market, according to a recently published market report by Stratview Research. This latest development further reinforces its leading position in the market. According to the report, approximately US$ 478 million worth of aircraft floor panels are expected to be sold in the year 2023. Increasing production rates of key commercial and regional aircraft, such as B737, B787, A320, A350XWB, and C Series; upcoming commercial and regional aircraft, such as Comac C919 and Mitsubishi MRJ; requirement of lightweight aircraft flooring, advancement in the flooring technology; and increasing global aircraft fleet size are the major growth drivers of the market, the report states.
