What is titanium nitride?
Titanium nitride is a form of exceptionally hard substance also known as tinite or TiN. It's used as a thin coating on aluminum, steel, titanium alloys, and carbide, among other things. Coating substrates with titanium nitride improves their surface characteristics. Robust hardness, low electrical resistivity, great corrosion resistance, and good thermal stability are among the properties.
Market Dynamics
Demand for corrosion-resistant coatings and materials for surgical device manufacturing and food processing equipment, as well as rising demand for high-quality tools and injection molding equipment from various end-use industries such as automobiles, chemicals, paints and coatings, printing, and others, are the major factors driving the market revenue growth. Physical vapor deposition, sputtering, ion plating, and chemical vapor deposition can all be used to apply titanium nitride coatings. Substrates are put in a chamber, and vapors of titanium and nitrogen are chemically mixed, resulting in a thin coating of titanium nitride being deposited on the substrate's surface. Physical vapor disposition is a little more difficult process. Substrates are placed on a carousel inside the chamber in this method. A strong negative electric current is supplied to the substrate while the carousel rotates, and titanium ions react with nitrogen ions at the surface of the substrate, resulting in a thin layer of titanium nitride.
The non-toxic nature of this material and technique is driving the demand for titanium nitride in the manufacture of medical devices and food processing equipment. Because of its glittering gold tint, titanium nitride is also used to coat jewelry, bicycle and motorcycle forks, and automotive trimmings.
