August 2022: Australian firm Canberra Data Centres (CDC) has launched two data centers in the Silverdale and Hobsonville areas of Auckland. Auckland Campus One in Silverdale and Hobsonville’s Campus Two can both support up to 14MW of power each. 

Partners including Vodafone New Zealand, Vector, Kordia and Feenix are among the first New Zealand network service providers to service their customers’ IT needs from within the new facilities.

June 2022: Serverfarm, the innovative data center operator and developer, is expanding its carrier-neutral LON1 data center with an additional 8MW of highly efficient IT capacity in response to strong customer demand. 

Serverfarm has operated its LON1 data center since March 2018 in Feltham, a location benefitting from its proximity to Slough, Hayes, Hounslow and Park Royal and strong connectivity to all major cloud platforms. 

May 2022: Energy company, AES Corporation, has announced a 20-year agreement with Microsoft to provide renewable energy to its data centers in California.

The agreement expands upon prior renewable energy agreements between the two companies, with AES supporting Microsoft in the pursuit of its goal of utilising 100 per cent of its electricity consumption, 100 per cent of the time, matched by zero-carbon energy purchases, by 2030.
