5 Leading Data Center Liquid Cooling Companies in 2026

Stratview Research | Oct 05, 2026
Top 5 Companies Leading the Data Center Liquid Cooling Market

As computing demands rise across AI and high-performance computing applications, efficient thermal management is becoming increasingly important for data center infrastructure. This is driving the adoption of liquid cooling in high-density environments and creating opportunities across direct-to-chip cooling, coolant distribution units (CDUs), coldplates, and integrated cooling systems.

The data center liquid cooling market stood at USD ~2.2 billion in 2025 and is projected to grow at a CAGR of more than 23%, reaching USD 7.9 billion by 2031.

Stratview Research estimates that the top 10 players collectively captured around 50–70% of total market demand, indicating a moderately concentrated competitive landscape.

Among the leading companies identified by Stratview, this blog takes a closer look at five prominent companies: CoolIT Systems, Vertiv Group Corp., Schneider Electric, Johnson Controls, and Daikin Industries, examining their capabilities, recent developments, and positioning in the data center liquid cooling market.

1. CoolIT Systems

Established in 2001 | Canada

Marking 25 years of liquid-cooling innovation in 2026, CoolIT Systems has built its business around direct liquid cooling (DLC) for AI and high-performance computing. Headquartered in Calgary, the company supports customers across 80+ countries, with its technologies deployed in more than 300 data centers worldwide. Its portfolio spans advanced OMNI™ coldplates, Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs), rack manifolds, server liquid-cooling loops, and related professional services.

CoolIT significantly expanded its manufacturing scale in 2026, reporting triple-digit growth in global production capacity over the previous two years and monthly production of hundreds of CDUs, thousands of rack manifolds, and tens of thousands of server coldplate loops, as per the company. In June 2026, it introduced a 15 kW coldplate design, nearly four times the capacity of its previous demonstrated design. In July, Ecolab completed its acquisition of CoolIT Systems, bringing its liquid-cooling capabilities into Ecolab’s broader water and energy technology portfolio.

2. Vertiv Group Corp.

Established in 2016 | United States

Following the sale of Emerson Network Power to Platinum Equity in 2016, the business was rebranded as Vertiv, establishing the company as an independent provider of critical digital infrastructure. Its expanding data center liquid cooling portfolio now spans cooling systems, services, and prefabricated infrastructure designed for high-density computing. In February 2025, Vertiv launched Liquid Cooling Services, covering installation, fluid management, maintenance, and digital services across the lifecycle of liquid-cooled systems.

The company introduced new Vertiv MegaMod HDX configurations in January 2026, supporting up to 10 MW and rack densities from 50 kW to more than 100 kW. In February, Vertiv partnered with Netweb Technologies in India to develop GPU platforms integrating CDUs, free-cooling chillers, UPS, and power systems. Further in September, it agreed to acquire King Environmental Services, expanding liquid-cooling service capabilities across EMEA.

3. Schneider Electric

Established in 1836 | France

Schneider Electric strengthened its position in the data center liquid cooling market with the acquisition of Motivair in early 2025, adding specialized liquid-cooling technologies to its data center portfolio. The combined offering includes Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs) and other solutions designed for high-density computing environments, giving the company a broader presence across the liquid-cooling ecosystem.

In January 2026, Motivair launched the MCDU-70, a 2.5 MW CDU designed for high-density AI data centers and scalable to 10 MW+ for next-generation AI factories. In February, Schneider launched its first Motivair liquid-cooling production facility in Bengaluru, its third globally and a new manufacturing and export hub. In September 2026, the company introduced the Motivair WCDU, integrating liquid cooling with fan-wall air cooling to support hybrid cooling architectures without requiring data-hall redesigns.

4. Johnson Controls

Established in 1885 | Ireland

Johnson Controls has grown into a global provider of building and thermal-management technologies, serving customers across 150+ countries. Its expanding presence in the data center liquid cooling market includes the Silent-Aire Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU), introduced in September 2025 to support AI and high-density computing environments, with capacities ranging from 500 kW to more than 10 MW.

The company further strengthened its liquid-cooling capabilities in October 2025 through a multi-million-dollar strategic investment in Accelsius, advancing two-phase direct-to-chip cooling technology. In February 2026, Johnson Controls agreed to acquire Alloy Enterprises, whose advanced direct liquid cooling components can improve thermal-management efficiency by up to 35% and reduce pressure drop by up to 75%, further strengthening its portfolio for AI data center cooling.

5. Daikin Industries

Established in 1924 | Japan

Originally established as Osaka Kinzoku Kogyosho in 1924, Japan-based Daikin Industries adopted its current name, Daikin Industries, Ltd., in 1982. From its beginnings as an air-conditioning specialist, the company has expanded its business to 170+ countries and regions and developed a broader data center cooling portfolio spanning chillers, conventional HVAC systems, server cooling, direct-to-chip liquid cooling, and intelligent cooling optimization.

A major recent step came in November 2025, when Daikin Applied acquired Chilldyne, strengthening its capabilities in negative-pressure liquid cooling for high-performance computing and AI data centers. In July 2026, Daikin and NTT DATA launched a proof of concept leveraging operational data and AI-powered cooling control to predict server thermal conditions and enable integrated management of HVAC, chillers, and liquid cooling systems, supporting more efficient cooling management for next-generation AI data centers.
